King of the Jungle Strikes Back: Angry Ginge Takes a Brutal Swipe at Estranged Dad After His Big Win

Fresh off his victory as the new King of the Jungle, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! champion Angry Ginge has stirred up headlines not only for his win—but also for a pointed swipe at his estranged father. The 24-year-old YouTuber, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was greeted with overwhelming pride by his mother Michelle when he stepped off the iconic jungle bridge in Australia. For Ginge, the moment was deeply symbolic: the triumph he had chased was not for fame, but for her.

Michelle raised Ginge and his sister alone on a Manchester council estate, juggling multiple jobs to keep the family afloat. It was she who hugged him first after days of trials, critters, and sleepless nights, her face lighting up as viewers crowned her son the series winner. And while Ginge has always spoken warmly about her, there was conspicuous silence when it came to his father—until now.

After the finale aired, Ginge shared an unmistakable jab on Instagram. He reposted a clip from Interstellar showing Matthew McConaughey’s character sobbing as he watches old videos of the daughter he lost touch with. A fan captioned it: “Angry Ginge’s dad watching his past self walk out on his son, who would go on to win I’m A Celebrity.”

Ginge’s response? A loud, unapologetic “HAHAHAHAHAHAH,” making it clear exactly how he feels. Seconds later, he posted a photo of a lavish plate of steak and chips from his luxury Gold Coast hotel—celebrating his win and perhaps subtly celebrating how far he has come without his father in the picture.

Speaking to the Mirror after leaving the jungle, Ginge opened up about the reality of growing up with very little. “I’ll never forget where I came from,” he said. “Everyone around me—my mates, their parents, my mum—they all had to hustle for every bit of progress. We didn’t have much. We worked for everything.”

He revealed that he nearly quit the show at one point, overwhelmed by the emotional and physical challenges. But the thought of making his mum proud kept him pushing through. When he finally reunited with Michelle, she told him he had achieved exactly that—before tenderly adding that she had been proud of him long before he ever set foot in the jungle.

Their struggles were real and long-lasting. At 18, Ginge watched his mother sell their family home and downsize to something more affordable. To take pressure off, he moved in with his Nana nearby. Those experiences shaped him, and he says they’re part of why his success feels especially meaningful now.

With nearly one million YouTube followers and a surge of fame following his jungle victory, Ginge’s career is poised to explode. Big deals and major opportunities are already being discussed. But surprisingly, insiders say that joining the show actually cost him over £100,000 in lost Christmas brand partnerships. Still, he didn’t hesitate.

“He didn’t do it for the money,” a source explained. “He did it for his mum. That mattered more to him than any paycheck.”

Now, as he enjoys the first taste of life outside the jungle—complete with hotel luxury, fan celebrations, and a rapidly growing spotlight—Ginge seems intent on remembering exactly where he came from, and exactly who he’s doing it all for.
